 The
Safe Harbor Animal Sanctuary GIFT ("Give It From The Heart")
program provides a way for student groups and other organizations
to help the sanctuary. If your class, company, or organization
is looking for a service project, here are some ideas:
- Organize a supply drive
- Collect Pennies for Pets
- Hold a fund raiser
- Sponsor an educational seminar
- Sponsor advertising
- Collect items for our Rags-Into-Riches Rummage Sale Fundraisers
If you would like to organize a food or supply drive for the
sanctuary, here are five easy steps to making a difference:
- Call the Sanctuary Director at 573-243-9823 to find out
what items are needed most. Useful items include high-quality,
name-brand dry dog and cat food, and shelter equipment and
supplies from our We Need It! List. Store-bought treats and
toys are always welcomed.
- Set a target date. Decide the date you'd like to present
your items to the sanctuary and be sure to allow yourself
4-6 weeks for collecting the items. Don't forget to get permission
first.
Advertise. Spread the word about your collection with posters
and flyers. Set up colorful donation boxes at convenient locations
around the school, community or office. Offer an award to
the student/employee or class/department that contributes
the most items.
- Stay positive. Don't give up if your collection starts off
slowly. Be persistent and tell everyone you know their help
is wanted and needed. Your success and dedication will be
an inspiration to others!
- Make a first-class delivery. Keep collecting until right
before your target date, then schedule a time to deliver the
items you've collected to the sanctuary.
- Finally, when you're done, don't forget to celebrate! Let
the local media know or write an article for the school and/or
local newspapers and send thank you notes to sponsors and
volunteers. Send us your Accomplishment Report so we can celebrate,
too.
