Adoption Guidelines
You must be at least 18 years old to adopt a pet. Individuals
must be adopting the pet for themselves, not as a gift or on
behalf of someone else. If the adopting party wishes to give
a pet as a gift for another person, please consider purchasing
a gift certificate at the Sanctuary. An adoption application
must be completed and reviewed by Sanctuary staff.

The adoption fee is payable at the time of the adoption and

The Fee is non-refundable. If, within 30 days, you must return
your adopted pet, you will receive an exchange valid for one
year from the date of the return. Exchanges are limited to one
exchange per paid adoption.
All Safe Harbor pets of the appropriate age will be spayed
or neutered before adoption. Pets too young to be altered at
the time of their adoption will leave Safe Harbor with a Certificate
of Introduction to a local veterinarian who will honor a discount
for spay or neuter of that pet.
New owners are encouraged to take their new pet to a veterinarian
for an exam to verify the health of the animal. Participating
veterinarians will honor Safe Harbor discounts for this First
Visit.
Disclaimer
Safe Harbor would never knowingly adopt out a mean or aggressive
animal and every effort is made to evaluate the personality
of adoptive pets. However, Safe Harbor cannot be responsible
for actions or behaviors of a pet once it leaves the custody
of Safe Harbor Animal Sanctuary.
