Adopt a Little Love
Safe
Harbor is a charitable nonprofit organization funded solely
through private donations and dedicated to rescuing homeless
and abandoned animals. We are committed to a "No Kill"
policy; pets that come into our care will receive humane treatment
for as long as they need our protection. Our goal is to find
a safe and loving home for each animal in our care, and we will
pursue vigorous Adopt-a-Pet campaigns to further that end. No
Safe Harbor animal will ever be euthanized unless it is medically
necessary to put an end to the animal's suffering.
The key to successful adoptions lies in carefully matching
the personality traits of each animal to the preferences and
lifestyle of the prospective home. This is accomplished through
the use of volunteer "foster" homes or a "free-roam"
environment (as opposed to steel cages in a kennel setting).
Once an animal comes into our care, it is placed into isolation
and its medical needs are evaluated. Basic shots are administered.
Veterinary care is sought when warranted. Unaltered animals
of the appropriate age are taken to the vet for spay or neuter.
They are then placed in our free-roam facility or in a foster
home. Prior to an adoption, foster parents or Sanctuary volunteers
do their best to accurately match each prospective owner with
the best possible pet.
